Kitesurfing / Kiteboarding in South Africa, Cape Town, Tableview gives kitesurfers some of the worlds finest kiteboarding conditions. The South Easterly or Cape Doctor as known by the locals, blows down the beachfront from Sunset Beach all the way to Haakgat 9 kms away regularly between 15 to 35 knots through the summer months. Along this strip there are various beaches to kite at but what is really growing in popularity is riding downwind. This allows kitesurfers to ride a wave and then simply ride straight out to catch the next one instead of having to do many tacks to get back up wind again. The beauty of this is that on one downwind run up to 12 different sand banks along the strip, which cause the waves, can be ridden thus allowing long wave rides, big jumps or time to get to grips with the kite, wind and waves without wasting energy or time. The logistics of waiting for someone else so that one car is left downwind then getting into another car driving up to a higher beach, downwinding to the original car and then having to go back up to fetch the top car, is all done away with by the downwindshuttle. A simple phone call has the shuttle pick riders up at the beginning or end of their session and drop them at the top beach to either start there run or get back to there car. |
